First Day of School

Today was the first day of school for the children. Brinley is a 7th grader this year and was so excited to start back up. I think she got bored this summer. Not sure what her schedule is yet or where her locker is but she should get all that today. I am sure I will find out soon enough....I am at her school all the time. Being the PTO Pres will do that to a mom ;)

Leah is in the 5th grade and Creed is in the 3rd. They are finally in the same school and Creed likes that he is in the 'big kid' school. This will be Leah's last year before moving into the Middle School with Brinley next year.
I am so excited to hear what they did to day and how thier day was. My house is sure quiet and I am missing them something aweful today. I get excited for school because they are excited. But I dread it because I love to be with my children very much and school doesn't let me do that. Oh well, they have great teachers and they love being at school....what more could a mom ask for?

School Tour of Fillmore

This past Tuesday (26) all the 4th graders in Leah's school went on a field trip to Fillmore. It was the site of our first state capital. The kids loaded on the school busses and parents drove their own cars.

There were tonz of activites for the kids to do that tought them all about the time period of the settlers of Fillmore.

Leah learns how to chisel rocks to make blocks for buildings....she said it was the hardest activity she did.

Leah and her friend Ashley dipping candles....this was a fun activity!

She learned how to plane wood getting it ready for erecting buildings.....she couldn't get the hang of this and got board fast.

The children in her group learned how important it was to work together as a group to get the work done....they built a log cabin with no instructions....all they were told was that all had to help, there had to be one door and at least one window....go!!!

This was a fun activity and the kids did an amazing job. I sure had fun spending the day with Leah and getting to know her friends and seeing her interacting with them.

The Forgotten Carols

This year as a gift to my female family members I took everyone to go see The Forgotten Carols. I saw an advertisment on the tv during confrence this past October and thought that I would just see how much the tickets were. I bought 10 right then and there.
So Mom, Lyndee, Renesa, Kelsee, Mariah, Hailee, Brenna, Brinley, Leah and I went to enjoy time together this past Friday.
We went out to eat at the Cafe Rio...all I have to say is Yummmmy!
Mariah, Kelsee and Lyndee get ready for the show to start!

Brinley, Leah, Me, Mom and Mariah wait inline for Michael to sign our books,CD's or programs. We had the best time.
Brenna and Renesa wait for us at the other end of the hall. This was one of the best things we have ever done together.... Just us girls.
Thanks everyone for coming the night wouldn't have been as much fun without you!

She was so excited to be in the 'two digits' (as she kept reminding us). Here are a few pics from her party:

And the Winner is......

So this week is Red Ribbon Week for all the children. Leah had crazy hair day yesterday and this is what we came up with. We hair puddyed her hair straight up....and used the old 80's hair techniques too (blow dry the hair straight up while spraying hairspray at the same time. You remember those days!) in order to get her hair to go up like this.

Then I used a waver for the tips of each of the spikes to give it the crazy look. Then to finnish it off we painted her hair red, white and black. She looked so funny when she left the house and I wondered what she would look like when she got home because I was unsure if the 'do' would stay in.

After school I was surprised to see her hair looked exactly like it did when she left. She also said that she won 1st place in her class for the Craziest Hair! She was so excited.

I just found out from the PTA president that Leah won 1st place in her grade too. Can't wait to hear her story after school today. She is going to be so excited.

Daddy-Daughter Date

Leah and Brinley had a Halloween Daddy Daughter Date Night for Achievement Days today. The girls helped plan the activity and they even dressed up in pair like things.... (example...Katsup and mustard, Computer and mouse). Corey and Leah went as Frankenstien (I know he looks more like the hulk but oh well) and Frankenstien's Bride.

Brinley getting ready to leave for a night out. Brinley went as a Tiger and she looked very cute!!!

Even Dad went with Stacia Squires. They were Cooks.
It's ok dad you look very pretty!!!!!

Brinley and her Uncle Grant were a Hunter and a Tiger. It was really nice of Grant to take Brinley tonight. This way both the girls had a date and didn't have to share. It was tonz of fun.

The Pie Eating Contest was a mess. Some of the girls are not such clean eaters. Leah won 2nd Place. She was one of the cleaner girls in the end.

The Shaving Contest was next. Brinley shaved Uncle Grant with shaving cream and a tongue depressor. Corey's make up stayed on pretty well during the abuse of the shaving contest. I was impressed.

The dad's painted the girls fingernails. Corey did very well as he has had practise. Kelly looks like he is taking pointers on how to manuver the brush correctly.

Feeding time for everyone. Little Ceasers Pizza, Salad and Pop was on the menu tonight. There wasn't much left after all the hungry mouths went through the line.

After the party Aislinn finds Corey's make-up fascinating. She kept touching his face and the bolts on his neck. I think she was trying to find her dad under all the green.

Me and Corey talking about the night he had. Brinley shot this picture for us. Wow he really does look scary!

The girls had fun...Corey had fun...I think Grant had fun and my Dad was the prettiest at the Ball! ;)
The night was a blast.
