First Day of School

Today was the first day of school for the children. Brinley is a 7th grader this year and was so excited to start back up. I think she got bored this summer. Not sure what her schedule is yet or where her locker is but she should get all that today. I am sure I will find out soon enough....I am at her school all the time. Being the PTO Pres will do that to a mom ;)

Leah is in the 5th grade and Creed is in the 3rd. They are finally in the same school and Creed likes that he is in the 'big kid' school. This will be Leah's last year before moving into the Middle School with Brinley next year.
I am so excited to hear what they did to day and how thier day was. My house is sure quiet and I am missing them something aweful today. I get excited for school because they are excited. But I dread it because I love to be with my children very much and school doesn't let me do that. Oh well, they have great teachers and they love being at school....what more could a mom ask for?

Castle Days at RHMS

Every year Mrs. Poulson (Social Studies Teacher) holds a day long event called Castle Days for the 6th graders. The students can dress up in peroid clothing for the day to earn extra credit.
Brinley went dressed in the clothing a typical woman would have worn in those days....compleate with bare feet. She looked awesome!

Every student was to create a castle out of recycled items. Nothing could be new it all had to be stuff found in the garbage or around the house. The wide aray of castles was fun to walk around and see. The families are invited to attend the main event after school.

This is Brinleys Castle she did so great on it. This was a fun family activity and the kids loved the crafts the students helped them make. This was a well thought out evening perfect for families.

Natural Resource Festival

Every year our county puts on a festival of sorts that is based on natural resources found in our area.
The children love filling their bags full of treats, gifts and pamphlets.
(Corey and Kai)
(Corey makes an UGLY girl!!!)

These pictures were taked at one of the booths. It was the Forest Service and the children had so much fun sticking their heads in the cut out.
(Aislinn and Keenan)

This is always such a fun family activity. There is plant give aways, rock walls to climb and tonz of room for the kids to run.
(Brinley)

LOL I just realized that Leah didnt get her picture here with the family...oh well, I am sure she was 'hanging out' with her friends!

She got a Kaboodle to keep all her new stuff in.

She totaly took her time thinking of just the right wish before blowing out the candles. It was such a fun night.

Brinley's Science Report

Brinley had to do a report on Diphthieria for science. It was a great learning experience for her because not only did she have to reasearch the diesease but she also needed to do a servey to find out how well know the diesease was understood among different age groups. We talked about why the younger age groups didn't know that much about it and she was surpised at the devistation this caused to the human body.
The report in class went well she got 100% and 20 extra bonus points! She was very happy.

Brinley's first Bread

During the holiday break I thought it would be good for Brinley to try her hand at baking bread. She was way more excited about doing this than I thought she would be. I gave her the recipe and told her to just follow what it said.

She did a great job. She mixed it up and learned how to mold it so it would fit into the bread pans. She did coment that it was hard work and that she will appreciate my bread more now that she has done it.

She got the bread all done and was letting it rise when the power went off. Now I thought that our stove would still work (it is gas) but it went out too....I don't know why but it did. So we hurried downstairs to start a fire in our wood stove because we could use that to bake the bread in (we have a bakers box on that stove for cookies, bread, cakes, whatever). The only thing is getting it hot enough fast enough for the bread that was quickly rising upstairs.

Lucky for us the power came back on at just the right time! It was good.

The Children all had warm bread and honey for snacks that day and the bread was great. Brinley really did a great job!

Brinley's Band Concert

Lastnight (Tuesday) was Brinley's Christmas Band Concert. She has choosen to learn the Alto Sax and has fallen in love with it. She is very gifted and I have been so impressed with her dedication to it.

The whole family went to support Brinley and the children really seemed to enjoy the music.

For a beginning band they did a great job. The have an amazing teacher who has done great things for these children. Many of them have never played a note of music in there lives and here they are playing popular Christmas tunes.

After the concert we went to celebrate at Pepperbellys. It is a huge deal to take that many children anywhere....let a lone a resturant. They did good though and we all left so full we could hardly move!

It was a great family night. This has been added to one of my favorite memories.

The Forgotten Carols

This year as a gift to my female family members I took everyone to go see The Forgotten Carols. I saw an advertisment on the tv during confrence this past October and thought that I would just see how much the tickets were. I bought 10 right then and there.
So Mom, Lyndee, Renesa, Kelsee, Mariah, Hailee, Brenna, Brinley, Leah and I went to enjoy time together this past Friday.
We went out to eat at the Cafe Rio...all I have to say is Yummmmy!
Mariah, Kelsee and Lyndee get ready for the show to start!

Brinley, Leah, Me, Mom and Mariah wait inline for Michael to sign our books,CD's or programs. We had the best time.
Brenna and Renesa wait for us at the other end of the hall. This was one of the best things we have ever done together.... Just us girls.
Thanks everyone for coming the night wouldn't have been as much fun without you!

Daddy-Daughter Date

Leah and Brinley had a Halloween Daddy Daughter Date Night for Achievement Days today. The girls helped plan the activity and they even dressed up in pair like things.... (example...Katsup and mustard, Computer and mouse). Corey and Leah went as Frankenstien (I know he looks more like the hulk but oh well) and Frankenstien's Bride.

Brinley getting ready to leave for a night out. Brinley went as a Tiger and she looked very cute!!!

Even Dad went with Stacia Squires. They were Cooks.
It's ok dad you look very pretty!!!!!

Brinley and her Uncle Grant were a Hunter and a Tiger. It was really nice of Grant to take Brinley tonight. This way both the girls had a date and didn't have to share. It was tonz of fun.

The Pie Eating Contest was a mess. Some of the girls are not such clean eaters. Leah won 2nd Place. She was one of the cleaner girls in the end.

The Shaving Contest was next. Brinley shaved Uncle Grant with shaving cream and a tongue depressor. Corey's make up stayed on pretty well during the abuse of the shaving contest. I was impressed.

The dad's painted the girls fingernails. Corey did very well as he has had practise. Kelly looks like he is taking pointers on how to manuver the brush correctly.

Feeding time for everyone. Little Ceasers Pizza, Salad and Pop was on the menu tonight. There wasn't much left after all the hungry mouths went through the line.

After the party Aislinn finds Corey's make-up fascinating. She kept touching his face and the bolts on his neck. I think she was trying to find her dad under all the green.

Me and Corey talking about the night he had. Brinley shot this picture for us. Wow he really does look scary!

The girls had fun...Corey had fun...I think Grant had fun and my Dad was the prettiest at the Ball! ;)
The night was a blast.
