During the holiday break I thought it would be good for Brinley to try her hand at baking bread. She was way more excited about doing this than I thought she would be. I gave her the recipe and told her to just follow what it said. She did a great job. She mixed it up and learned how to mold it so it would fit into the bread pans. She did coment that it was hard work and that she will appreciate my bread more now that she has done it.
She got the bread all done and was letting it rise when the power went off. Now I thought that our stove would still work (it is gas) but it went out too....I don't know why but it did. So we hurried downstairs to start a fire in our wood stove because we could use that to bake the bread in (we have a bakers box on that stove for cookies, bread, cakes, whatever). The only thing is getting it hot enough fast enough for the bread that was quickly rising upstairs.
Lucky for us the power came back on at just the right time! It was good.
The Children all had warm bread and honey for snacks that day and the bread was great. Brinley really did a great job!
